ECTN – Electronic Cargo Tracking Note in African Countries

In order to better monitor the import cargo, many African countries require Exporters to provide details about their import shipments before the cargo arrives at destination.

ECTN (Electronic Cargo Tracking Notice) or CTN (Cargo Tracking Note) certificates, also known as waiver documents or BESC (Bordereau Electronique de Suivi de Cargaison) in French speaking countries, informs the local authorities about the nature of goods imported, the value of the goods, who is the shipper and the importer and also the transport route and the mode of transport (Container/RORO/Break Bulk). This is a mandatory document in some countries in Africa.

We can assist you with the issuance of these certificates for African countries where it is required. Currently, 23 African countries require an Electronic Cargo Tracking Note (ECTN) for all import shipments.

We can issue these certificates for following countries:

Angola, RD Congo, Gabon, Liberia, Benin, Cameroun, Sierra Leone and can assist for other countries on request as well.

These certificates have a cost which always needs to be considered on top of the transport price.

The price varies depending on the country of destination, the origin of goods and the type and quantity of containers.
